Supporting GAL Volunteers

Every year, approximately 75-90 new volunteers go through our training in Mecklenburg County.

A portion of our fundraising goes to support recruitement and retention efforts within Mecklenburg county.  We purchase business cards, ID badges, and help to support the annual Volunteer Appreciation Event to recognize all of our hard-working volunteers.

Please check out the GAL Program page for more information.

If you would like to make a donation in honor of a GAL volunteer or to suppor our volunteers, please visit our Donations page.

Child Abuse Awareness Month

Child Abuse Awareness Month is recognized every April across the country.  The GALA Foundation helps to support this cause by increasing awareness in Mecklenburg County.

PROJECTS

Beyond the Classroom

The GALA Foundation believes that after-school activities play a significant role in shaping a child's life. The GALA Foundation wants to ensure the foster children of Mecklenburg County have that opportunity. We have established a fund to provide small grants for enrichment opportunities and for educational and personal needs of the foster children in care.

Please check out our Beyond the Classroom page for more information.

Cases for Kids

Children in foster care can move on average 2-3 times a year. Many of them take what little they have in garbage or plastic bags.

The GALA Foundation is conducting donation drives to provide bags to the children in care. We accept monetary and in-kind donations.
